Come Party With Me and Maybe Win a Bike?
While also supporting a sick resource for New York cyclists
Leg Day is a newsletter about pursuing joy as a city cyclist.
Do you like bikes? What about bike gear? What about the opportunity to win a bike and bike gear while drinking free hard seltzer? What about the opportunity to win a bike and bike gear while drinking free hard seltzer AND supporting a bike shop in their crusade to make repairing bikes affordable for all New Yorkers?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, join me at Outlandish next Thursday, September 12 at 7 pm for the official Leg Day Launch party. Unlike most of my parties, this one has a theme: A Celebration of Life for the 80s-era vintage Raleigh that made me a biker, which I embarrassingly ran into a parked car last spring. (Don’t look at your phone and ride, kids! Just be lost! It’s fun!)
The event is going to be held in support of the Bike Plant repair fund, which is designed to make sure that anyone who rolls into the best bike shop in Brooklyn can roll out with a bike that’s safe to ride, no matter whether they can afford the full cost of the parts and labor required. All the net revenue we make selling $20 tickets will go directly to the fund!
Don’t worry though, your money won’t just buy you the sense of satisfaction that comes from supporting something rad. The folks at Dirty Water, Athletic Brewing and Lesser Evil have offered a bunch of product for me to serve at the event. That’s right … FREE BOOZE AND SNACKS for all ticket holders!! If you’ve ever wanted to try a hard seltzer even people who don’t like hard seltzer will like, non-alcoholic beer that won’t make you feel like a high schooler, or freaking SPACEBALLS, here’s your chance.
To sweeten the pot further, every person who attends the event will be given a raffle ticket which enters you into a drawing for a CITY CYCLIST SURVIVAL kit. Thanks to donations from companies like Cotopaxi, CamelBak, Fjallraven, Hoka, Knog, Snow Peak, Vacation Sunscreen and Wild Rye, I’ve been able to put together a few fun kits of at least $100 in value that I’ll be giving away during the party!1
DID YOU MISS THE LINK THE FIRST TIME? HERE IT IS AGAIN.
You can also choose to enter a raffle to buy the bike I bought to replace my crashed bike, which I’ve already replaced again. (I’m a monster.) It’s a super-light 2010s era hybrid commuter, that’s perfect for someone between 5’6 and 5’11 who just wants something to rip around the city.
The event should be a smash, but I can guarantee it would be better if you were there. Unless, of course, your name is Robert Moses. You can continue to rot in piss.
OK FINE, I’LL GIVE YOU THE RSVP LINK ONE MORE TIME
If you represent a brand, I’m taking more donations! Reply to this email and I’ll be in touch.
